Private Lessons/Camps

The Green Island Ice Arena has a dedicated staff of professional skating and hockey instructors for all of your skill development needs.

The Green Island Ice Arena & Coulee Region Chill prides itself on providing the highest level of experience and expertise to provide a professional teaching experience. 

Instruction is for each age group during each levels scheduled open Hockey. One hour and 1/2 hour lessons are available during these times:


30 Minute Lessons:

1 Skater | $60

2 Skaters | $90

3 Skaters | $120

60 Minute Lessons:

1 Skater | $85

2 Skaters | $125

3 Skaters | $165

Professional Hockey Instructors

The below instructors are approved to instruct at the Green Island Ice Arena. These are the only instructors who should be giving private hockey instruction.


Jon Vaillancourt | From La Valle, Wisconsin, is entering his second season as the head coach and general manger of the Coulee Region Chill in the NA3HL.  In his initial season as the head coach of the La Crosse Freeze (now Coulee Region Chill) the Freeze won its first Central division championship with a regular season record of 34-12-1 and post season record of 4-0. The Freeze where also a final four finalist at the 2017-18 Fraser Cup. 

Vaillancourt is a graduate of Reedsburg Area High school. Jon started his junior hockey career with the Hampton Roads Whalers in their inaugural season 2006-07 after playing a year for the Madison Capitals Midget Major AAA program. Having the opportunity of being coached by the late Bob Suter, a member of the famous 1980’s Miracle team, Jon prides himself on hard work, no excuses hockey. Following his junior career Jon played collegiate hockey for Framingham State University, Framingham, Massachusetts. His strong leadership ability earned him the honor of being elected Assistant Captain his senior year. After college, Jon attended the Elmira Jackal’s (ECHL) rookie placement camp and subsequently was selected to attend the Jackal’s main camp/preseason roster for the 2012-13 season. Jon then played in Williamsport in the FHL before returning to Chesapeake, Virginia, as a coach with the Hampton Roads Junior Whalers program. Winning the USPHL Premier Championship in 2015-16. He Also served during that time as the assistant strength and condition coach with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL.
